Orientation

Orientation

On Wednesday, March 31, 2010, Albert R. Renteria, the CEO and President of South West Veterans Business Resource centre(SWVBRC), and I, along with a friend of mine, who is a WWII, former USMC, met at the historical downtown San Diego YMCA, for breakfast, at 9 a.m. I rode the bus and trolley from Chula Vista, Ca. to downtown San Diego. Albert drove from Fallbrook to downtown San Diego.

Albert is a former Marine, with 26 years of honorable service, and retired at the rank of Chief Warrant Officer, (CWO4), highest level of rank for a CWO, until the rank of CWO5 was implemented after the start of the Global War on Terrorism, (GWOT).

Albert generously donates many resources and his time to the SWVBRC. He has opened an office in Fallbrook, another one in Washington, as well as one in North Carolina. He desires to open another 9 offices by the end of the year in other states. He has visited veterans in all 50 states since he opened his first office on Veterans Day 2008. Shortly after retiring from the USMC in 2000, Albert started on his mission of seeing that homelessness among veterans disappears, and that all veterans learn about the benefits that they are entitled to, with the overall objective of being employed, or starting a small business.

During the four hour orientation period, Albert and I discussed many topics. Two main topics were the power of three, and the box.

The Power of Three is a very powerful combination, consisting of two veterans, using their military skills as the foundation, to implement new projects and ideas for the future.

The Box is the power of three, combined with family, friends, peers, society, objectives, goals, jobs, ventures, in a box that has unlimited power, strengths, weaknesses, threats, and opportunities that open the door to unlimited, future possibilities.
